Empowering Climate Leadership: MaGC’s Role in a National Capacity-Building Initiative

The Assignment
MaGC was entrusted with the design and delivery of training sessions on Climate Finance as part of the Leaders in Climate Change Management (LCCM) program, an initiative under the Smart Cities Mission.

MaGC’s Approach and Methodology
Given that the participants were senior officials from various government departments and local bodies, MaGC adopted a practitioner-focused approach in designing the training modules. The content emphasized practical application, covering key concepts in climate finance, main sources of finance and requirements for accessing them. The training delivery included interactive learning methods such as case studies and group discussions. To support continued learning beyond the sessions, MaGC also developed supplementary learning aids for use in professional contexts.

The Output
The assignment led to the successful delivery of training sessions for three cohorts of LCCM, resulting in enhanced awareness and practical thinking among participants. MaGC also contributed to developing an activity-based teaching guide, which equipped many participants to serve as trainers themselves, enabling further scaling up of knowledge dissemination.
